Are you an author who has written a manuscript ready to pitch to an agent? What should you know about copyright law? Have you been offered a publishing contract? Did you know terms of a publishing contract can be negotiated? What rights does an author typically grant to a publisher, and what terms of compensation are standard? Publishers, especially the bigger publishing houses, have lawyers who draft their contracts. You should have a lawyer familiar with your type of publishing contract, negotiate it or at least look it over and give you legal advice.
